Why do you think your supply has dropped? Ie, is your DC acting hungry after feeds, fussing at the breast etc? If so, could be a growth spurt rather than a drop in supply..

AFAIK, being under pressure shouldn't affect supply except in the most extreme circs.

Regardless, best way to increase supply is to feed more - both breasts at a feed, and if your LO still wants to feed, start again on the first one. Plus feed as frequently as you are able / LO wants to!

BFing is all about supply and demand. The more you feed, the more your body makes!

If it were me I'd also make sure I ate well, slept as well as possible and was well hydrated, though that would be mostly to give me the mental strength to deal with all the extra time spent feeding!

Also anecdotally, oatmeal (ie porridge) is supposed to help supply.

Fenugreek and Milk Thistleare good for increasing supply (in addition to feeding of course)

wahwah - who the heck has told you that??? Under pressure = milk supply dropping???

I can assure you there is no evidence that this happens, and plenty of evidence that it does not!

Individual experience varies, and perceptions vary, and you may hear people say they are sure this happened to them - but there is no biological reason why it should. Women breastfeed in extraordinary circumstances - just as your blood continues to circulate in times of pressure, your milk production continues. You continue to breathe, and to see, and to hear, and to put one leg in front of another to walk. Making milk is a bodily function, and once established, it is very far from fragile.

If you are concerened about amounts of milk, then feed more often, using both breasts at least, day and night.

That is the very basic way milk is made

taliac's post is good, too, and porridge will not do you any harm, but you prob dont actually need it!

Good grief, heavens to betsy, an HV telling a mother something stupid, undermining and wrong about breastfeeding.

Quelle surprise.

there is a whole load of thing here to increase breast milk. I have used both the Special Blend and also the More Milk Plus (at seperate times!) and i noticed a MASSIVE increase within 48 hours. Porridge does also increase supply.. so i 2nd that too.
