Can you get BPA free standard neck plastic bottles?

I'm am planning to bf but want a couple of bottles for expressed feeds. DS1 never got on with wide neck bottles until he was a toddler . I want to get BPA free standard neck bottles for ds2, but I can't seem to find any. I can find glass ones, but would prefer plastic.

Help please.

What about these?

Thanks, but I think those are wide neck bottles. I really want to get standard neck ones as I need to use a smaller teat.

Oh, sorry, not sure I understand about the wide neck thing. Are Avent style standard neck?

tutu100 · 12/11/2008 23:42

No Avent bottles are wide neck, standard bottles are the smaller neck, but now most people seem to use wide neck bottles so I think people think they are standard IYSWIM.

I think I may be looking for the impossible as the only standard neck BPA free bottles I can find are glass ones from Green baby.

Can I put your mind at rest re any specific concerns you may have about using glass bottles?

tutu100 · 13/11/2008 20:05

I thought I probably would get some glass bottles once the baby is older, But I was worried about the weight they might add to the changing bag. DP dropping it on the baby(he did that by accident with ds1, and that was a plastic bottle) and also I'm worried about ds1 breaking them if I forget to put them out of his reach.

Also how do you find them from point of view of colic?

Any advice would be great. I'm not planning on using bottles much certainly not for the first few months, but I really want to avoid BPA.

Dropping the bottle on the baby? They aren't so different in weight that that would be a major problem but best avoided I suppose! You don't sound like you plan to cart them round often but again, not so different in weight. Mine seem to chip rather than break or shatter and only when being washed, they are quite tough. Ours are even used with sippy cup tops. DD1 breaks tea cups but not bottles and I leave them everywhere. Don't know about colic, I am afraid. NUK teats have a valve and it is best not to tighten the neck too much if baby sucks enthusiastically.

The absolute best thing about glass bottles is that they warm up and cool down so so quickly compared to plastic, so EBM or formula preparation is much quicker.
