How can you tell if your baby's getting enough milk?

Is it just growth/weight and alertness?

I produce a lot of milk, DS is now nearly 9 weeks old and for the past 3 weeks he's been down to about 6 feeds a day, and sleeps from 11ish to 8 every night. He's exclusively BFed btw.

We had an 8 weeks checkup and since birth he's put on 2 kilos- he was 50% and he's now 75% for weight and has maintained himself at 99% height. He has very wet nappies all the time, dirty nappies every other day and he's very alert and awake during the day.

He barely cries either- I'm so happy and think I have the best baby ever, but when you look at some websites (KellyMom or Breasfeeding.com for instance) my impression is that I should make him eat more often. As my supply is definitely not an issue, should I really worry about it, or just enjoy it while it lasts?

Enjoy it while it lasts! Sounds like you have a fantastic baby and are a great cow yourself. If he was hungry he'd let you know about it...

You cant make a baby feed more. They feed when they're hungry. It sounds like you're doing a great job. All the usual things that you watch for like wet/dirty nappies, weight gain, sleeping well and alertness are fine so stick with it you're going everything right.

I used to take ds to be weighed every week and worry that I didn't know how much milk he was getting. I had more milk than I knew what to do with, could have fed everyone's baby. He was in the 90s percentile and I was still worried. When I look back at photos he was absolutely ENORMOUS. I think you should relax and enjoy it.
