6.5 months EBF, refusing bottle of EBM...help please!?

we knew this could happen, and practised with a bottle from time to time, at 2 weeks, 4, 6 etc, 3 months....4 months and most recently at 5.5 months, but basically we haven't practised enough... and now at 6.5 months (when there are some days coming up where i'll have to leave her with someone)she won't take EBM in a bottle.
I've read some of the threads on this topic, but wanted to get some specific advice from all you experienced ones....
have an Avent 0+ teat

(also in my cupboard I have a Avent 6m+ fast flow teat, and also have a Tommy Tippee free flow beaker)

my dd is a BLW and i'm trying to introduce her to the beaker anyway....
should i try EBM in the beaker, or bottles and teats... which teats..... (i am not a consumer and prefer not to buy extra stuff but will do if i have to)
my worry with the beaker is that my precious EBM (I don't have a good stash in the freezer) will dribble everywhere with a beaker, (but maybe this is worth it in the long run, ....) so would a bottle be better first..... with other teats...

i have tried going out and leaving dd with dm, and dh, no joy yet, when would be a good time of day to try....

thanks in advance for your help

What about a normal plastic cup?

How many feeds does she have a day?

maryo2 · 11/11/2008 13:09

she feeds at roughly 7, 11, 2, 6, 10

so a normal plastic cup....??
is it better to not let them get used to a spout
won't i spill the precious EBM everywhere?

thanks

Yes, some will probably spill. But my friend did this with her exc bf ds who refused to take a bottle and he got the hang of it quickly

Will she take water from a beaker? Because if you're only leaving her for a day at a time (only missing 2 or 3 feeds for example) she should be ok (I would think, anyway). And might she be on a bit of solid food too by that point?

she takes a little water from a beaker, trying to teach her
and she is feeding herself finger food....

Ooh, Hello again

Are you away for 1 day, overnight? How many feeds do you anticipate her missing?

maryo2 · 13/11/2008 09:19

hiya again
i want to be able to give her a bottle feed every now and then
this sat we are going out from 5 till late (rehearsal and concert) so wanted trusted babysitter to give a bottle and put her to bed, this comes up again in december,
in january i go back to work 2 days a week, so she will have to then,
and in general i sometimes like to leave her with dad for half a day and go off and do something for myself, she used to drink from a bottle, but now,,,,,,!!
anyway my dm tried the cup (with free flow spout all be it......) dm didn't want to do it without (i am trying to keep out of the way) and she said she though it was slightly more successful. we were trying at 11am, think we may try at 5 ish today
