My DD is now 15 weeks old. She has been feeding well up to now. Would take about 4/5 ozs a feed every 3/4 hours.

The past week or two its been a struggle to get her to have just 2ozs! She really fusses with her bottle and pushes it away.
Shes still putting on weight and is happy to still go 3/4 hours during the day.
The HV isnt worried but
a)It just doesnt seem enough
b) Im beginning to dread every feed time now as its such a battle!
C) Her sleep seems to be disturbed now - Think its cause shes not filling up enough during the day.

So far we have tried different bottles, diferent size teats, dragging her feeds out so shes really hungry but she still fusses and takes about 1/2ozs before refusing the rest.

Anyone any experience of this and /or any ideas to what to improve her feeding..

Thanks

sorry to hear of this pigley

i do remember i think it was ds4 was having expressed breast milk and did a bit of refusing

we found MAMs bottles to be the best and i also recall reading that others on here felt the same

have you tried different milks is it formula maybe you could try a different brand i dont doubt they must taste different

maybe she just does not like it!

My dd was the same at that age. could she be teething?

pigleychez · 09/11/2008 12:30

Thanks for the replys.

We havent tried different formulas yet... hoping it wouldnt get that far.

She has started to get abit dribbly lately so suppose teething might be a factor.

Shes been abit better this weekend but DH has done most of her feeds so see what shes like for me tomorow.

Seems so odd as she just seems to get to the magic 2ozs and just refuses any more!

My DS (now 4 months) was doing exactly the same a few weeks ago. He seems to have settled now, though he doesn't always finish his feed. I just dont force it if he doesn't want to finish it.

Have you tried having a bit of break i.e. nappy change, short play time when she starts fussing then coming back to the bottle a bit later, say 15 mins or so? That sometimes works for me.

My 12 week old is exactly the same, guzzles down a copule of oz then just isn't interested! i have no solutions, i'm still trying 2 find some1 with an answer myself!!! i found yesterday that cup feeding helped. he took 2oz, i cup fed him another 1 then he took another 1 1/2. I am finally coming round 2 thinking that if the hv & gp aren't bothered then neither should i but it is very frustrating! it's been going on 4 3weeks now but as yet he hasn't lost weight. it would seem 2 b a stage that they go though!

My Ds (15 wks) is just the same, he hits the magic 3oz and then thats it. He oviously isnt getting enough in day as hes waking loads in night. I was even thinking about giving a tiny amount of baby rice to try and fill him. DS1 used to guzzle his milk so im finding it really hard with this one!

1stbaby5 · 13/11/2008 19:40

I've been giving mine a bit of baby rice just at breakfast cos this is usually his worst feed. i know that this isn't recommended & definately won't b offering it anymore than that until he's at least 4mths. but it makes those other feeds less frustrating cos i know he's getting something, i'm less stressed so he's less stressed! r u having 2 feed him through the night?
