Breastfeeding after 3 months, do things change with you?

I have gone incredibly thirsty in the last 2-3 weeks, 6 pints, sometimes more just wondering if this is normal part of breastfeeding at this stage?

I have gone hungry as well, but I am eating more, but weight is staying stable, what about that too?

Any thing else that may be of interest to me, please post too

thanks

Haven't noticed the extra thirst, but at 3 months, I got my period and my hair started falling out . And I fit into my old jeans even though I remain 2-3 kg heavier than I used to be (and the weight has stopped decreasing). Won't worry about the weight until I stop BF.

Thanks Hoochie. I just hate seeing hair all over the place (apart from on my head)!

My ds just turned 3 months & I have also become a lot more hungry & thirsty (& hair falling out like crazy!)
Don't understand it because on the days he takes bottles (I pump and leave it for him when I'm at work) he's taking about the same amount he used to, so I don't think he's actually drinking more?
Glad to hear it's not just me!

OMG I have been wailing about my hair falling out.. it gets everywhere and I seem to be constantly pulling it out of my baby's mouth!

I didn't realise this was why.. it makes sense thank you Hoochie!

My DD is 5 mo now and I noticed that at around 3 months my breasts were back to normal size and softness. If my lovely MW hadn't warned me about it I would have been convinced I was losing my supply.

I also am still enjoying lots and lots of cakes without putting a pound on. The best reason of them all for "extended" breast feeding.

Yes the hair falling out does pass!
Funnily enough, I went to have my hair done when ds was 9.5mo, I left him with my mum who was up visiting. Hairdresser asked me 'how old was my baby', I told her but had to ask how she knew I had a baby (I hadn't told her) and she said it was because I had new hair growing!

Bfing made me hungry, sadly it hasn't made me any less fat!

cosmicdust · 07/11/2008 16:53

My breasts don't leak nearly as much as they used to now, which is nice!
We do have a new bfing issue though too - ds is way more interested in the world than in eating. He'll come off to look around & "chat" to me, and if he hears or sees dh, we might as well forget about the rest of the feeding! I read somewhere that I should be bfing in a quiet darkened room under a blanket, but I feel isolated doing that.

I'm still bf ing (2nd DC)at 14 months and still gaet thirsty around the time I feed, though not as hungry as I used to. It's not surprising really when you think how much of what you drink and eat is being literally 'sucked' straight back out of you. I found as my 2 got older, they become better at feeding and get the milk they need in a much shorter time. I know from when my DD has to have a bottle that she drinks much more than she used to but feeds for shorter times. If you watch her with a bottle or cup she drains that much more quickly too. Word of warning (speaking from experiene!) watch what you eat when you're hungry in the first months as it quickly becomes a habbit and is hard to resist reaching for a cake or chocolate bar later on!

thank you, good to know its all normal
