Callum is 13 months now, and still BF, but he has finally cut 2 teeth, the 2 side top ones, and he keeps biting me, on purpose. He bites down and laughs. I don't want to feed him if he is going to bite me.

Put him on the floor and walk off for a couple of minutes. Don't say anything or give him your attention. He thinks it's a game. The more you shout/yell/say ouch (play to him), the more he will nip you.

I say 'no' atm , is that wrong? I have never BF this long before, so not had this problem

It's giving him attention. I would refuse to look at him, put him on the floor and walk off. Try it and see how it goes.

One idea is instead of instinctively pulling away when he bites (and hurting yourself more) is to pull him into the breast so he has to let go as he cant breathe. However in reality it is hard to think logically to do this one but maybe worth a go.

I agree with the trying not to react thing (again a lot easier said than done because it really really hurts) but the more you react the more they think it is something funny/interesting/exciting to do to mummy. He wont understand the concept that he is hurting you - just that this new trick gets a reaction. Also second the idea of putting him down, not making eye contact, walking away etc so he learns it does not get a good response.

The other thing to try is to watch for the signs he is going to do it. DS used to do it at the end of the feed - until then he was too intent on getting the milk. His signs were that he slowed down feeding or stopped sucking and then sometimes he got a mischievious look in his eye or would make eye contact with me before doing it. Again easier said than done to recognise it - and it makes it all less enjoyable. You really tense up dont you if you think they are going to bite.

Hopefully it will just be a stage. I am pretty sure DS grew out of it. Often they are just trying out these new toys they have but have a lot of sympathy for your nipples!

yes he gets a glint in his eyes just before he does it. He pulls off, looks like he is about go back on and then bites..
Will try these tips thanks.

It will really help as he gives you warning signs. Just pop him on the floor before he bites. He will get the hint eventually.
