Thought it would be interesting to see all the different places people have breastfed. I was pretty shy to start with but since then was at a street festival and I just sat down on the pavement and latched DD on...

Gah, I see Howlingbelly has beat me to it with the BF near lions.

Just remembered feeding in DD's school playground on Sports Day. Nobody noticed!

ChairmumMiaow · 01/11/2008 16:42

Forgot that - I've done the hairdressers too, while getting my hair cut. Poor DS was covered in bits of hair, but I did take him at 4pm when that was the start of cluster feed time (doh)

Unfortunately I can't feed and mumsnet at the same time any more as DS is obsessed with laptops. Much more interesting than milk!

At my office whilst translating a CT scan report for an older patient and her husband. She thought it was lovely, he didn't know where to look. Both laughed when DS half-woke and did an enormous man-burp and then sagged back down fast asleep, arms and legs asprawl.

Mine's less exciting but was fun and felt brave at the time cos she was young: Waiting room at quik fit in front of loads of manly men

mum2oneloudbaby · 01/11/2008 20:41

in the solicitors office, young solicitor wasn't quite sure what to do but at least dd was quiet
on top of Scafell Pike
on the Norfolk broads

mamijacacalys · 01/11/2008 20:42

In the middle of the Great Dorest Steam Fair, on the last Sat night of the show, sat on the ground near the big wheel watching DH and DS go round. DD then fell soundly asleep and didn't even stir when all the steamers let off steam at midnight...ahh

bf DS for 14 months and DD for 20 months so have fed in all the usual public places - coffee shops, supermarkets, Mcds etc

babyOcho · 01/11/2008 20:50

In the British Airways first class lounge at Heathrow T5, because we are posh.

Well, not really, just because DP travels a lot for work.

MrsH2508 · 01/11/2008 21:11

Going down a motorway at 120 kph DD was in her rear facing carseat and we were in my husbands work van, Extreme breastfeeding.

BananaSkin · 01/11/2008 21:12

Sitting on a discarded fridge down an isolated country lane, crouching on the gravel outside a funeral (not funny), between aisles in Boots, standing by the car while DS was strapped into the car ... everywhere really.

aniseed · 01/11/2008 21:24

wow - i thought I was risque doing it in church (and I was not playing the organ. I breastfed pretty much everywhere - you become immune to the looks of some strange people who don't understand breastfeeding. It was also a good way to get rid of the prudish in-laws after they had outstayed their welcome (after about 5 mins!).

squeakypop · 01/11/2008 21:24

Lots of people mention breastfeeding in church - that was just normal to me for many years.

But the one usual thing was breastfeeding at my own confirmation. The bishop did his laying on of hands thing (without DD), but after he had done all of us, he called us unexpectedly onto the dais. I was feeding DD so took her up with me. The bishop said he could just baptise her there and then, jokingly.

The funny thing is that that day I had gone to the chemist to buy a baby bottle so that I could express some milk for her. My supporters were ready and willing to bottlefeeed her, but she was not up for it.

feeding in church is normal (says the minister's missus who is hoping God will grant her two more to feed in the pew )

I hope that the more I do it the more other women feel free to do so, although I was by no means the first in our church

The curry aisle of Asbo's, sorry Asda's.
5 rows back from the front of an open air Bad Manners gig.
My local pub, although the landlard did get a little flustered when I said that DS had to have his own as they didn't have it on draft

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 02/11/2008 01:33

the most embarrassing thing that happened while feeding DS3 at the organ is when in the middle of a hymn he decided that he would grab my top and lift it up (very high) while pulling away from the breast to have a look around......

Thus flashing my entire left nork at one half of the congregation (I sit at a 90 degree angle from the congregation - at the front). Needless to say there was an odd "pause" in the middle of that verse while I used my right hand to cover myself up again

BoffinMum · 02/11/2008 12:48

Hehehe FAQ, and rispeck, sister.

Me? In a sling whilst hoovering; at the dentist; in the sea; on TV whilst discussing contraception (!); standing up in the Accommodation Service office of Cambridge University; communal NCT 'feed in' of my ante-natal class sitting at a street cafe in a London street (to see the reaction of passers by as six of us fed simultaneously).

mrsgboring · 02/11/2008 14:24

In the ruined Church of St Ninian on St Ninian's Isle. (Shetland)

In Britain's most northerly museum on Isle of Unst - Curator warned me there was about to be a coach party in (as if I cared).

On ferries on English Channel and North Sea.

Numerous church occasions (not the only BFer in our congregation). Also in Greifswald Cathedral, Germany, during a Bach Cantata.

Restaurant at the Musee d'Orsay. Paris Metro, Gare du Nord, Eurostar.

Trains, buses, stations and tubes lots and lots. Have also done the stand outside the car and BF a sleepy child in carseat.

Natural History Museum on a Bank Holiday - member of staff asked if I'd prefer to go somewhere more comfortable but I stayed sat on the floor because DS was terrified of the stuffed animals.

Post Office queue in a sling.

While playing Crazy Golf.

handmedownqueen · 02/11/2008 14:39

Albertsmum · 02/11/2008 15:47

I took Albert to a wedding when he was 6 weeks old. I ended up feeding him sat on a gravestone outside the church and then the driver took pity on me and let me sit inside the vintage roller for the second shift!
