Green Poo - why and should I be worried?

My baby has had green poos - sort of green grass type stuff in his nappy every night since Saturday - one or two nappies just in the night.

In the morning they're back to mustard. But he's straining a lot, passing more wind than usual and has gone from one large poo per day to several smaller ones in each nappy changed.

Have read this could be due to too much fore milk - ??? any advice welcomed

Hi
my 11 week old baby has had green poos since about week 4. They vary from dark green pesto type colour to light green or yellowish green. I have been to the GP and the HV and they assure me it is completely normal. I tried feeding him from one breast only for a few feeds and expressing milk to ensure a proper foremilk/hindmilk balance and it made no difference. Last week we had 4 days of mustard poos (hoorah) and then yesterday it was back to normal green. I think as long as the baby is putting on weight as they should then the colour of poo doesn't matter. I did notice however that the windier he was the darker green the poo was. He is also producing a lot more dirty nappies when the poo is green. Another Mum at my baby club is experiencing the same thing with her 10 week old daughter and the GP told her the same thing as me - as long as she is putting on weight and is not out of sorts then green poo is fine. The fact you're getting yellow ones during the day sounds good anyway. Try not and become like me totally obsessed with the colour of baby poo.
