Has anyone else been given these for their red books? I've got one for dd but I can't see any difference between it and the normal one. DD is on the 91st percentile in both. Can anyone explain the difference to me? Sorry if I'm being a bit thick

do they have them now - it would be great!

Mij · 11/10/2008 15:13

That's great that you were given one!

How old is your DD?

There will be more difference the older they are, I think, up to when solid food is introduced (and how it's introduced might make a difference to..? Not sure of my ground here, actually!)

From memory, DD hovered between the 9th and 25th centile on the standard chart, but was above the 25th on the exclusively bfed one.

Look at the actual weight rather than the centile? I sort of assume that later on (not at birth) a weight of (eg) 6kg at 4 months would be on a different centile on both charts?

Mij · 11/10/2008 15:18

oooh, just found this

So depending on how old your DD is, that might explain why there's little difference..?

FlabbyTumSquashyBum · 11/10/2008 15:39

Dd is almost 12 weeks so from what you've said and from reading the link (thanks Mij) that's why there's no difference at the moment.

I was surprised when my hv gave me one. I'd heard about them but wasn't convinced they'd actually come into force. I've still got the original chart alongside the new one so it will be interesting to compare them as she gets older.

You can have a look at them here.

madmouse · 11/10/2008 22:50

oh that is fab. That is exactly what my ds has been doing, first up the centiles a bit, then down quite a bit, now up again with solids.

good thing is, it has always been me stressing about it, not my health visitors who have always said he looks great and is very active so don't fret.

At least you've got sensible hvs Madmouse, the obviously know what's normal for a bf baby. I must say mine seems very supportive of bf at the moment. Everytime I get dd weighed she remarks on the wonder of breastmilk!
