Hello.
Right, have got in a bit of a pickle with DD2 (11mths) and bottles.
For various reasons, I started giving a bedtime bottle at 9mths (as did with DD1) to DD2. With DD1 I felt really comfortable doing this as she fed LOTS during the day and was always happy to be offered the breast.
However, DD2 has cut right back on her breastfeeding....down to first thing, then only once or twice during the day. Yesterday she was under the weather and grizzled until I gave her a bottle.
Basically I think that she is irritated with my diminishing supply and understandably wants the bottle 'hit'. She bites if I try to feed her at bedtime. If she isn't going to be drinking much milk, I would like it to be BM.
So, can I turn it around? Do I pump? Offer less formula? Offer the breast before/ after? At all, until, I've built up my supply?
Any advice or experiences appreciated x

Yes, you can turn this round, AccidentalMum...best first step might be to call one of the bf helplines and talk it through.

They will prob suggest offering the breast in the sense of 'making it available' rather than fighting your dd to get her on - so co-bathing, with her in your arms/on your chest, holding skin to skin out the bath, co-sleeping with easy access to bf...that sort of thing.

You could pump to bring the supply up to make it more productive for her, but the 'offering' options are worth trying first for a few days before you go down that route.

Good luck

if you are worried about your supply, i can really recommend the Ameda Lactaline breast pump, dd is a difficult feeder, and it has given me peace of mind that my supply is not dwindling.

Thanks, will start co-bathing tomorrow (think we'll all fit!). Have LLL training on Wed, so can discuss it then too! Pumping is too depressing for me, hardly ever get much even when feeding at the same time

well i didn't get anything with ordinary pumps, Ameda Lactaline a hospital grade pump and very different. But good luck with the co bathing etc, very important.
