No. lying down not frowned upon. Positively encouraged!!

  • the lying down while feeding is lovely!
  • good for instantly calming baby
  • no faffing making up bottles

Though like Traceybath, I haven't lost the baby weight!

It's addictive, once you've started, you'll get this warm feeling of happiness when you look down at your feeding child.

It was almost a year after dd was born the weight just fell off suddenly. Dd had changed the way she was feeding and I have never felt so good, slimmer than pre=preg but a different shape

Also you feel like a right smug bugger knowing you are doing the absolute best for your baby.

Yes the very very best thing is looking down at my feeding baby and when he looks at me and smiles.

In fact it makes me terribly emotional to think that we'll stop at some point and he's my last baby

AM just starting to lose the baby weight (ds2 is nearly 9 months). Love lying down feed (only way we do it really now), he has 5-6 feeds on average a day still and we love it. Is calming and makes sure i take a break. Also 1-1 time (never expressed). Also reduces risks of some cancer i think.

traceybath, I feel a bit sad that someday (quite soon maybe) I'll have to stop bf - I think dd is the last baby for me too.

As others have said, bf is great for the lazier mum. When I had to express and wash and sterilise bottles to take to ds whilst he was in hospital, I though "Well there's no way I'm gonna do THAT all the time!" one of the many reasons which spurred me on to continue with bf.

This article discusses findings that bf helps reduce the risk of breast cancer, and how it was "virtually unknown 200 years ago".

though = thought

bfing was my entire method of parenting for the first few months. Fantastic to be able to comfort a crying baby at the drop of a hat.

I think for me it also released endorphins because it always lifted my spirits when I was feeding.
