Have you tried NCT bra-fitters? You don't have to be an NCT member to use their services & advice. See on the NCT website and search under your postcode.

go somewhere decent like bravissimo or rigby and peller. somewhere where they try stuff on, not just meawsuer and make it fit.
it's worth it, honestly

Have you seen any guides like this one from Bravissimo?

My sister dragged me to Rigby and Peller before I got married - during the fitting I learnt how a bra should fit, which has given me the confidence to buy off the internet and judge for myself. Rigby and Peller don't use tape measures (which was a bit disconcerting), but makes the point that all styles come up differently, and even if a 34F in one brand fits like a glove, you might be a 36F, or a 34G, or a 36E... in a different style.

I was a 32F before baby and was measured at about 34G just before she was born. I ordered about a dozen bras in assorted sizes to try from www.figleaves.co.uk and sent back 10 of them (I actually wound up in a 36G). www.amplebosom.co.uk and www.bras4mums.co.uk/ are also pretty good, as well as bravissimo.

Good luck

Thanks will look at those links now.
I just get confused with the add 4cm add 5 cm deduct difference blah blah blah
I measure 34 inch under bust
40 inch on fullest part.
Different web sites say add inches to nearest even number.
Some say dont add anything.

What size general tops do you wear, and how big are your breasts when you cup them in your hands? I measure pretty much the same basic measurements as you and am in most cases a 34F/G. I wear a size 14 and need both hands to cup one breast

38c doesn't sound right at all xx

With those measurements you should start with a 34F and then work from there.

Do not add any inches to your back measurement, it is a stupid outdated practice which gives saggy boobs. The back band on your bra should feel slightly too tight at first but you will be amazed at how quickly you stop noticing it and how much better your shoulders will feel as they will no longer be taking the strain.

I start from using the under bust measurement as the back size and then add a cup size for every inch difference between the under bust size and full bust measurement (allowing for sag). Then start trying on bras and fit by eye from then on. The bravissimo guide is very helpful as are the customer service team. I have had fitting advice from them by phone before.

thanks so much for advice. will try 34f then and see how it feels, then take it from there.
As I tried mothercare yesterday and they measured me 36dd, she didnt even pull tape measure tight.

Hi, stumbled on this thread whilst looking for help with measuring self for feeding bras. Am 36 weeks. In my town theres only M&S and Mothercare which are meant to be rubbish at measuring. after reading this i'm now confused about my size. back measurement is 32, am 36 round the boobs. Thought this made me a 36A, through preganancy I had have bras from M&S 36B and the band is too loose and cups a bit tight. Any help appreciated!
