Firstly cant apply for it anyway as currently pregnant and due to take 12 months Mat Leave as of next March BUT............

I was offered the chance to apply for job selling SMA products to medical professionals.

I currently work in sales in Medical devices and hate current job and would like to sell to midwife/health visitors.

I am a pro breastfeeder and bf dd1 and plan to bf dc 2

Presuming this job involves selling follow on milk only, surely this does not mean I would be banned from mumsnet

I am going to get flamed are'nt I

i know someone who applied for a job and got it when 6 months pregnant and started it at 8 months taking full mat leave at 8 and a half months

fishie- do you do this as a paid job?

could I be so rude as to ask what your salary is? I am looking for about £25k plus

dont see why not - would think your likely empathy with mums would be good!

and anyway, its a job, you can learn skills from for career progression

fishie · 01/09/2008 22:19

i earn a bit more than that but i am fairly senior (have been doing it for 15 years) and am in central london.

there are different disciplines too, you'd probably do better with community fundraising, individuals or companies rather than big trusts or government.

overthemill · 02/09/2008 10:36

fishie, how do you get into fundraising? Do you need to do one of those charity courses?

Lilymolly, being currently pg is no reason not to apply. Presumably you are planning atm to return to work. If you are due to take mat leave next March that's 6 good months in role before mat leave starts. For any employer someone already working for the organisation is (usually) already a better bet than a newbie. Go for it, might as well grab the opportunity - nothing ventured nothing gained. Also they cannot refuse you interview or the role on the grounds that you are pg.

priceyp · 02/09/2008 12:53

Besides next March? Do they even know yet?

lilymolly · 02/09/2008 19:54

oh its with a different company.

I have contacted the agency and asked if they would welcome a pregnant applicant
so waiting to hear.

but to be honest I still plan to have a full year off work so doubt any company would take me on- I know they cannot discriminate against pregnant women- but hey I live in the real world
