Yay me! Baby is 3 weeks old. Day out at a steam rally. I nearly went back to our car to do it, but thought stuff it, lets try!

18 month old dd nearly blew our cover though, as dh let her run round us playing, and she tried to whip our blanket!

Have I broken a law? What is the law?

I always felt a little embarrassed with dd and am preg with dc no 2, but this time I am going to try an overcome this.

Congratulations Mastering public feeding will really help you to carry on BFing for longer. Most people I know who started to introduce formula before 6m did it because they could not feed in public.

I found having DH around the first few times a help as he could position the blanket.

People were sat all around me as well, and they never knew what I was doing. In fact, I did it twice while there.

I shall be doing it next Sunday, at motorbike racing, out in the open air again!

Thank you all for your kind words of support.....dh said I was to only bf for a few weeks, as it was not going to work with our days out, so best change to ff bottle.

He can now see that it is workable he said to me tonight, you got on really well today feeding him while out!

If I have won him over, its the battle over! Before it starts isnt it?!

the first time i bf in public my sister took me out specifically to do the deed. she was a great support.

My favourite was the guy who was running for local government or something like that, who made a pudding of bananas, tinned oranges and squirty cream and then tried to pass it off as an experiment in "budget shopping"!!

I always want to go over and chat to BFing Mums, especially if they are on their own and look a bit nervy. I never do I just smile and hope they get the "I am cheering you on" vibes.

On the DH front. Mine was actually very supportive but what won him over the most was not having to share night feeds and the cost savings. However it did actually start to be an issue again when she was about 18m as DH told me he did not feel as bonded because of it. We now take it in turns to put her to bed and she has a cup of milk from him those nights. She is nearly 2 so I am starting to let her self wean now. Next time I will express more and start him off helping with feeds much earlier.

I have expressed once, and dh has fed him. Thought it was important for them both. Plus, I wanted to see how much milk he was having, just so I could believe, something was coming out!
