How do people use breastmilk storage bags?

Hiya
I've got a few bags of breastmilk in my freezer collected from shells and would like to try DS with a nightly bottle of EBM when he's big enough. Have just found out Avent do a different style of disposable bottle thingy now that doesn't use the bags. So that means you can't pump straight into a bag either I guess.
Does anyone use bags anymore? Do you defrost the bag and tip it into a sterilised bottle? Is it easier to defrost a bag than a bottle or no different?
Any tips much appreciated, thanks.

Hi Buckets,
What I did was defrosted the bag in the fridge then poured that into a sterilised bottle.

I did the same as Mikafan - defrost in fridge, into sterile bottle.

I did the same, but it you need to defrost quickly you can do so in a mug of hot (not boiling) water and pour into a sterilised bottle - you need to use straight away though if defrosting in hot water and not the fridge.

I did the same - froze in bag, then pour into sterilised bottle once defrosted.
I froze in bags, as only had a couple of bottles and lots of bags! Freezing in a bottle might be more convenient though (although might it take longer to defrost?)

Ended up preferring the bags as they defrost much quicker. i found about 70mls or 2 fl oz was about the right amount for a batch. due to the magic of physics, you can defrost almost as quickly without heating the milk if you put it in a bowl of cold water.

Froze in bag, decanted into sterilised bottle. Frozen bottles take ages to defrost (I came home from hospital with a few), wheras bags take no time at all.

Thanks all.
So with regard to Avent Isis pumps, now they don't do the disposable bag/bottle adapter, you'd need to pump into a bottle, then transfer into a bag to freeze it? So less hassle to pump and refrigerate and for freezing use shells and bags?

aren't you going to run out of bags if they don't do them any more?

i pump directly into boots breast milk bags from my avent isis breast pump. You just have to be careful not to spill and insert the plastic end into the bag and then tighten it slightly by pressing the white things together :O) has worked for me every time and no hassle having to sort bottles to pump into and no transferring milk. straight in bag and done!! only problem i have now is that ds refuses having a bottle!!!!

You can still get the holders and bags on ebay.
