The Date - Monday 21st July
The Time - 12pm-2pm
Location - Palace Green outside the Cathedral in Durham City Centre map

I am organising this event, but I need some help - especially if you live in Durham - as I don't!

We need the following items:
An England flag
A Scottish flag
A rope

Someone willing to ask Costa Coffee/Starbucks or some such place whether they would be willing to accommodate us if the weather is bad.

I'll be posting soon how to join the mailing list.

Please sign in here if you are coming and/or are willing to help with the above!

Can you bring your Scottish flag? I'm going to try and print some off anyway!
Tequila - bring her anyway - kids love to play with babies and I have an especially cute one

lol tequila....but everyone is welcome, whether feeding or not; as long as you support the cause . I'm not BFing myself (but am pregnant)

LackaDAISYcal · 15/07/2008 20:31

I've just bought two 5' x 3' scottish flags

I just hope they arrive in time now.

BouncingTurtle · 15/07/2008 20:37

We're sorted for flags - ChairmanMiaou has kindly done some printable ones, I'll get them printed tomorrow and I'm pretty sure that my local library has a laminator so will get them laminated. I've still heard nothing back from The Northern Echo! I will bring DH's camera so I can take pictures.

In that case I'd love to support the cause!

Will see if I can get the time off work and if so, will definitely be there!

BouncingTurtle · 16/07/2008 09:34

Agghhh! I tried the security guy at Durhum uni and actually spoke to him today - he has been off sick!
He says he'll get back to me today...

God I really hope he doesn't veto it.

I think I've made us sound as friendly and peaceful as possible...

I've spoken to a lady at Century FM just now and she is ringing me back - she said they would be interested in covering the event on Monday!!!!

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 17/07/2008 12:29

She rang me back and she told me she wants to interview me and air the interview on Monday morning!
However ds had other ideas and started to kick off big style while I was trying to feed him. So she is going to ring me back in a little while.

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 17/07/2008 13:30

I've been interviewed on century fm.
I think it went ok... I was careful to stress that it was a feeding baby issue and not a bf v ff issue - i said how someone chooses to feed her baby is her business and no-one should interfere with that.
I also threw in the sandwich in a toilet line

Hello - I live in Durham with 2 dds - one who is bfing (15m) and one who is not (being 4!). Is this an anyone can come sort of thing?

kiskidee · 17/07/2008 13:51

Excellent news BT!. It means you can stop stressing about whether or not Palace Green security contacts you or not. Can you imagine the security going about our presence before they noticed the press was there?

kiskidee · 17/07/2008 13:51

Yes Poppy, anyone can come. Bring a mate along if you want.

BouncingTurtle · 17/07/2008 13:54

Please join us! You and your los will be very welcome - don't forget your picnic

I've just checked the Met Office website, and it will be reasonably warm and sunny, yey!! So don't forget hats & sun creams for yourselves and your little ones!

To all those going to the Durham picnic, if travelling out of town I recommend the Belmont Park n Ride just off the A690/A1(M) junction. I aim to be there at around 11.30, so if you want to meet up there, I will wait until around 11:40 and then catch the P&R bus. If you do miss me, these buses go every 10minutes. I would ask the bus driver where's the best stop to get off - I normally get off at the one just after Prince Bishops Multistory (can't miss it). To get from Palace Green from there, turn around to face the direction the bus has come from and you will see ahead and to your right a set of steps (there is also a ramp for those of you with buggies). Walk up to the top and turn right past the congestion charge barrier. Keep walking uphill until you get to Palace Green (about 5 minute walk). There's plenty of signs (look for the ones for the Cathedral/Castle) so you shouldn't get lost!
You can park around Palace Green but I strongly recommend you don't - if you want to park in Durham, park at Prince Bishops though it is cheaper to use the Park N Ride.
There is a Cathedral bus as well which goes up to Palace Green but I'm not exactly sure where you catch it from!

Is there anything going on in cardiff does anyone know?

BouncingTurtle · 20/07/2008 08:18

I don't think there is - I think your nearest one might be Birmingham. Look at this thread here.
