Need help in writing to my employer about expressing when I return to work

I'm a teacher in a secondary school, and will be returning to work full-time in September, when dd is 11 months old.

I'm intending to carry on bf - dd hsn't been given any ff yet, and I don't intend to start now!

I think I'll be able to manage by that stage on just one, or maybe 2 expressings per day, and have found this factsheet which on page 3 talks about bf and working. I know I have the right to a clean room in which to express, but I also know that I have to inform them in writing of my needs, and I'd appreciaet some help in putting my letter together.

Should I include the text from the factsheet as well?

Thanks, oh wise MNers ...

Thanks for raising that, tillystar - I know she did a lot of research, and that's what she suggested I write ... I've sent the letter, and am hoping for somebody to contact me on Monday to discuss it.

Friday next week is a special case, in that the afternoon session actually starts in the morning - the timetable has been collapsed to allow 4 am sessions, and only 1 pm session - which will last only 30 minutes.

My manager has just phoned ... they've sorted out somewhere for me to express, and they've sorted out somewhere for me to store my milk ... so that's all done! It strikes me as funny that they've done it in super-quick time so that they don't have to let me go early on Friday!

I've phoned the union lady to let her know

Thank you for all your help, oh wise MNers!

A little inspiration for all of you hard working feministist in Brittain ('cause this is a feminist issue! And you should have theese rights too): Here in breastfeeding-utopia the national workers-union have pressed through so that you get two hours for feeding your kid on the spot at work, until they are 1 year old. That means that I can return to work gradually (work 50% for a given period), so that my abcense won't be such a shock. I still get paid for working 100% as that is what I had before getting pregnant.
