Is cow's milk enough for a dainty 13 month old?????

DD, 13 months, was BF excl to 8.5 months, mix fed for another 1.5 months and has had formula until 12 months. She is very dainty and although she has three meals a day and snacks, she can be a bit picky and sometimes sends more onto the floor than into her mouth. She has cow's milk first thing and with her breakfast, water through the day, but I have been giving her formula for her nighttime bottle.

All the recent threads on formula have got me pretty concerned about using formula at all (and I'm NOT looking for a discussion about that here) and i'm in a bit of a quandry about what to do.

Should I just give her cow's milk at bedtime as well? or carry on with the formula? My instinct tells me she needs something more.

And I can't believe this is causing me this much deliberation and confusion.

It's probably too late for many responses so I'm off to bed and will check in tomorrow morning.

TIA.

Daisy DD has had cows milk since about 10.5 months when I could no longer express. If I am at work she will have 1, maybe 2 bfs a day but cow's milk the rest of the time and always cow's milk before bed since she has started biting in the evenings.

I think it's a very western thing to ply our kids with so much dairy. But if you are worried give her things like cheese and yoghurt.

I was actually going to mention it to you the other day when I read something about you giving DD formula. My RL friend still gives her DD (the same age as ours) formula and I asked her about it, just because I was under the impression that they didn't need formula after 1 year, I was wondering why she was still giving it, I wasn't sure if there was still some advantage to giving it after 1 year.

i would stick with cows milk, if she is having 3 meals and snacks, she is getting her vitamins and minerals from that, isn;t she? why do you feel she needs something more? some children are more petite than others. DD started off quite petite and dainty, is no almost 3 and is still small ish but is now average weight. cows milk and a good balanced diet should be fine

don't know lulu.......being conned myself by the formula advertising ...and thinking it might help her sleep better. Although my inner intelligence tells me that is untrue. See......I'm all in a tizz about it.

I'm determined that DS2-to-be will not have a drop of formula passing his lips.
