Hi, hope this isn't too soppy...

Had to go to London this morning from West Country (had to go to US Embassy so DS can get his American passport).

Got on crowded heaving train and found a seat and was (breast) feeding when the guard came along and said, '... would you prefer to sit in first class?'

I was so incredibly touched. He then brought me a glass of water and paper!

You hear all sorts of horrible things about women being asked to move/stop/cover up, so it was so lovely to be treated so well!

Oh what a lovely man!

BouncingTurtle · 25/06/2008 15:06

Assuming the guard was a man...

NormaStanleyFletcher · 25/06/2008 15:07

fab

MadamAnt · 25/06/2008 15:09

That is so very lovely! What a kind man. Out of curiosity, was he old or young? I bet he has/had a BFing wife or daughter.

He (male guard) did mention that his wife was breastfeeding, and understood that it could be tricky in public places.

I was going to say write and thank the company, but no doubt he'd get a bollocking for putting you in first class!

What a fab man though - would that there were more like him around!

Thats so lovely.

I was in an M&S cafe once and bought a coffee and sat down. Then started feeding and the womans behind the counter brought me a glass of water. She said her daughter was a bf counsellor. I was so touched I nearly cried.

EtonsMessCat · 25/06/2008 18:14

Hunker - you should write, he wont get in trouble. They have discretion to offer first class seats to pg women or new mothers if available.

When I travelled to London from westcountry and was pg, had horrendous bad ache and asked the guard if I could be moved to first, no problems (my Dh works for first, and said I should ask).

I was looked after well!

EtonsMessCat · 25/06/2008 18:15

Ilovemydog - sorry i meant you should write, I said it response to Hunker!

ilovemydog · 25/06/2008 18:20

Thanks, Etons - didn't want to get him into trouble for doing something genuinely kind (train companies can be odd that way!)

At least didn't make guard look silly as DS was QUIET the whole journey - well, you would be if you were feeding continuously to Paddington!
