Help - 4 week old baby overfeeding and has colic/bad trapped wind

My baby is 4 weeks old and already at 10lb 4oz - he has put on a good amount of weight.

Lately, he has been crying differently which has been a higher pitch cry and he has been very scrunched. I’ve put it down to colic and trapped with. We’ve been using infacol which seems to be helping to loosen everything but at night nothing can console him. He can be awake for 2 hours stretches crying and very unsettled. The only thing that settles him is a bottle. However, he is wanting a bottle every 2 hours and it’s 120ml and sometimes that’s not satisfying him and he will want more sooner. Any advice on what to do or how to get him to go longer between feeds? Or do I change his milk? He’s currently on kendamil first infant milk but maybe a different brand will be more suited to him? I have looked at hungry baby formulas and comfort ones but according to NHS guidelines, he shouldn’t need this yet. I’m just at a loss and want my baby to feel happy and comfortable.

Could it be reflux? They can find milk soothing

Use a hungry baby formula as last feed of the evening. This worked for us with DD1, who was very similar to your little one. Also try holding him differently (more upright) when you feed him, as this seemed to help too. Fennel tea also helped with the wind (we weren’t in UK), as did, if you can still get it, gripe water.

I’m not sure. It could be as he does spit up at times. It’s just not after every feed so I didn’t take it into consideration.

It sounds like reflux.

Cooled boiled water in a bottle between feeds can really help bring wind up. As can a bath, baby massage, laying them stomach down along your forearm (a man’s arm is a good shape for this) and walking around, walking around with their stomach against your shoulder…with one of my DDs I had to pace around for hours but it brought up so much wind.
