Should I ask about amino acid formula for suspected cow’s milk intolerance?

Been to see our consultant today regarding my son’s severe reflux / sandifers syndrome. He says he has likely got a cows milk intolerance rather than an allergy. He’s been on Nutramigen & Omeprazole for two weeks. Slight improvement but still showing symptoms. He said we need to give the milk a full 4-6 weeks for improvement.

Should I push for an amino acid milk? We’ve already had 4 months of this - waiting another 6 weeks for improvement is torture. Did anyone see instant relief for an intolerance?

Sending hugs to anyone else dealing with this x

Aww OP you poor things. I would say yes, for sure it’s reasonable to expect the best for your baby so push for it.
good luck x

Thing is it can take at least 6 weeks for the gut to heal. So even if you pushed and got it you’ll need to manage your expectations. From an experienced parent of a kid with allergies.
it’s rough. It does get easier, slowly over time.

I was breastfeeding but whilst I saw small improvements when I removed foods from my diet it did take several weeks for a more noticeable difference.
It takes 4-6 weeks for the gut to heal so you can still get symptoms.
What dose of omperazole are they on and do they also have a thickener? My daughter only responded to omperazole at the highest dose and needed any milks thickened as well
