How much does it matter if breast milk is pumped in the AM/PM?

I have read that in the morning BM adapts to wake your baby up, whereas in the evening it contains things that make them more sleepy. (My understanding is fairly basic but this is the gist!)

Is this something I should be particularly conscious of when pumping for bottles that my husband can give? Eg should I label AM milk accordingly so that he doesn’t give it ona night? Or do people not do this and it seems to make no difference?

I’ve never found it made any difference! I also used to mix them if I didn’t get enough out. Just carry on as you are, there’s enough to do with a newborn without adding more unnecessary admin to it!

I don’t think it made any difference either.

No, by the time it's been in the fridge they really don't seem to care. Sometimes the bottles I pumped at 11 could be quite watery when I went back to work so I mixed them together with the afternoon bottles at the end of the day.

I went back to work at 6 months so did a lot of pumping. I found the morning milk to be a lot more watery, and the afternoon milk a lot thicker, so I did label them AM and PM. And I did find baby drank a lot more in the morning than afternoon so it made sense, i guess they are indeed thirstier in the morning so it made sense.
