12 month old still having 1 or 2 bottles during the night

So I was actually just researching how I can keep cows milk warm over night so I can make a bottle quick to find that a lot of people are saying over 12 months shouldn’t be having any feeds at night.
My LO isn’t a big eater during the day and has a bottle morning and evening and always on the move. I believe he is genuinely hungry as he will polish off the bottle in 2 minutes and go back to sleep. I wasn’t even thinking this was an issue and just assumed he would stop needing this when he’s ready. Is this not the case? Should I be swapping it with water? I cannot force him to eat more in the day either…

I have bottles in the night as and when needed til 18 months. She probably had 1 a night 50% of the time

You're in a chicken and egg situation where he doesn't eat enough during the day because he's eating at night.

If everyone is happy with the situation it's broadly fine.

But he shouldn't need to eat at night, at that age their stomach/digestive system should be developed enough to go through the night without eating. It is likely habit rather than need.

Also, really bad for his teeth unless you're also brushing them after each drink of cows milk.

When my son was about 15 months I swapped it out for water and left it in his cot and that was the thing that got him sleeping through the night. He was a fantastic eater though so I sad pretty sure he was habit waking

Definitely no milk after you brush teeth at bedtime.

They only need about 350ml of milk a day at this age so if you're giving lots of milk at night then they won't be hungry for food in the day.

I’d stop. She doesn’t need to eat much during the day because you’re giving her so many calories during the night.

Stop the nighttime bottles and she’ll adjust and start eating more during the day. She only needs 300ml of milk a day now and that can include milk in things like cereal, custard, lasagne and fish pie.

My child started this and it was just a habit. To break it I gave bottles of water and within 2 nights they didn’t bother waking anymore.
