Toddler waking for comfort feeds and wind overnight, any suggestions?

Help with a gassy girl!!

shes 26 months now, still wakes up a lot in the night. Usually wakes up crying, asking for milk, latches on, does multiple farts then will come off the boob and go back to sleep. She’s done it 3 times so far tonight. So I know it’s comforting, I don’t think there’s actually milk there!!

is there anything I can give to her? I’ve not noticed any triggering foods, could reflux cause gas?! I have always wondered whether she had silent reflux as a baby, acidic foods can make her sick so we steer clear of anything too acidy. Could I try gaviscon? I don’t mind breastfeeding, but I’m a single mum and I have LOADS to do in the evenings and struggle to lay with her on and off for hours

At two years old I’d be offering water in a sippy cup to try to discourage waking.

She'll be still getting milk OP and there's fuck all wrong with a breastfeeding toddler, despite the comments you're going to get from people who don't have a clue.

She's found a way to relieve discomfort from wind on her own. There might be a way of doing it another way. But personally if it works, I'd probably ride it out.

Maybe look into what her last solid meal is and see if it can be tweaked.

I agree, there will be milk there and plenty of Mums are feeding their LOs at this age, they might just not be talking about it.

Im wondering though if you’ve ever looked at CMPA, especially as they have reflux and wind?

Cow’s Milk Allergy

Cow’s milk allergy is an abnormal response by the body’s immune system in which proteins in a food are recognised as a potential threat.

I’d maybe see the GP about possible food allergies? BF a toddler is totally normal but it’s also fine if you want to make changes. How long does she nap for? Might be worth cutting it down so she is more tired for the night, that has really helped my toddler.

@Peonies12 she does nap for around 1/1.5 hours at the moment. And she ALWAYS wakes up furious!!

Keep doing it? Mine and many others that age were having night terrors. Yours may be able to soothe by a bit of nursing instead of night terrors. It’s common to fart when you are sleeping, half awake. It’s perfectly natural.

My DC1 always woke up crying from naps. A quick feed or some water and a snack always seemed to help Smile

Oh yeah mine is always grumpy after nap regardless of duration. Id try capping it at 1 hour, might help reduce night wakes
