High palate - does feeding get easier?

I’ve been EBF my almost 12 week old since birth, and due to a very high palate (but no tongue tie) it hasn’t been particularly easy. She’s my second baby and I had no issues with my first so this has come as a bit of a surprise! We’re totally fine when lying down at home (so night feeds are a breeze), and feeding slightly reclined on the sofa at home is usually ok - though sometimes I end up going upstairs to lie down, kinda depends on how chilled she is as when chilled/sleepy she is way less frantic and gets a better latch. But out and about is a nightmare, almost to the point that I’m now avoiding going out. She struggles so badly to latch, and pops on and off constantly.. and ultimately she gets upset. Anyone whose baby has had a high palate and therefore a shallow latch… does it eventually get better as little one grows?

Hi OP. Congratulations on getting to 12 weeks of breastfeeding, that’s a massive achievement.
You say the laidback position has been helpful, have you tried feeding her in an upright position where she straddles your thigh? It’s similar to laid back position but easier to use when out and about. If you have Instagram, check out Hannah Croft IBCLC. She has great videos of this position, and it’s tends to be helpful for babies that have a shallow latch.
