Supply worries

Hi. I have a 3 months old who is EBF. Baby has recently started sleeping for much longer stretches at night, which is amazing but I’m worried I’m going to lose my supply. Eg last night 22:00-5:00. Tonight 21:00-3:00. I think they’d have slept longer but I woke up in a puddle of milk, my breast pads had soaked through to the nursing bra so I woke baby for a feed.

Could leaving baby to sleep affect my supply? What can I do to prevent this? Any advice much appreciated.

I have a nearly 6 month old and she slept through the night from about 8 weeks, I had a few nights where I woke up very full and leaking but this settled. She got to 4.5 months and has been waking up anywhere between every 30 mins and 3 hours. I’ve never had any concern that she’s not getting enough milk. I think your supply will adjust depending on their needs.

I’d say to enjoy the nights of sleep that baby is allowing you to have (as long as the health visitor hasn’t said to wake due to baby’s weight) and invest in a pump to give yourself comfort when you do wake up full and leaking but baby is still asleep. I remember with my first I often panicked I wouldn’t be able to meet his nursing needs if anything changed but our bodies are incredible and adjust quite quickly.

You’re doing a great job 💐

by that age i wouldnt worry, your supply will be established. I’d pump if necessary at night, just a little bit for comfort. Mine was doing longer stretches at that age, Im still feeding at 16
months! And it probably won’t last 🤣
