dd is due to wake up for a feed and my nipples are killing me... i just dont know what to do, i have really tried to stay positive with the breast feeding but just feel like giving up. im in agony. I know there is no quick fix but surely there has to be something out there that can help me. tried rubbing milk in, tried lanisoh, tried leaving boobs out to the air... still sore and in lots of pain. HELLLLLPPP me please im desperate!

is she latching on properly? it shouldnt be painful.

can you ring your HV to check you are doing it right?

You need some RL help with attachment and position. Tenderness/sensitivity is normal but pain isn't - even minor alterations to the feeding position and latch can make a huge difference. Call one of the BF helplines to find a local contact hwo can visit and observe a feed.

good luck

You really need someone to come and check your latch. It will make a huge difference.

Hi Charlotte, can you ring a BFC?

Look on this website on the right are the numbers for the main organisations who provide BFCs, they'll be able to find one in your area.
Are your nipples cracked/bleeding? Get some Lansinoh - from a Pharmacist, to put on them.
You are doing really well but it sounds like you just need some extra RL help.
If your nipples are cracked/bleeding, here's some info on moist healing

I know how awful this is. My third child (now 6 months old and still being breastfed) had tongue tie and breastfeeding was awful. I suggest that you get your midwife to check for tongue tie. I knew something was wrong because she was my third child, but I would have had no idea that the latch was wrong if she'd been my first.

The tongue tie was cut at 9 days, but breastfeeding was still really painful (even after the bruising/bleeding healed) until she was a month old. I found the let down really painful this time (and it wasn't with my first 2 children). After a month, it stopped hurting and has been fine since then.

I know what it's like to dread the feeding. I've never used a BFC, but I agree that it may help you to get someone to check the latch.
