teething, is it time for weaning ?

My dd cut her 1st tooth at 3mths and her 2nd at 4mths. She's now 20 weeks old. She's still breastfed but I started giving her baby rice and vegies very gradually. Should I speed up the weaning process now that she's got teeth ? does she need more nutrients ? I must say I'm not looking forward to the top teeth coming out as she's already started biting me and it's not exactly pleasant

Teeth having nothing whatsoever to do with weaning. My ds didn't have any teeth through until he was over one! The teeth are actually formed long before they come down (in the womb!), so no, the fact that they are now visible does not mean she needs extra nutrients.

And some babies are born with one or two teeth, too!

Presence of teeth just means chewing and biting skills are on the way, not that any more nutrients are needed.
Call one of the bf helplines to find out what to do about biting, fredly.

Fredly mash her face into your breast when she bites or remove her with a loud ouch to give her a fright. dd has only bitten two or three times nothing serious and is almost 10mths.

there are more nutrients in your breastmilk than in baby rice or veggies so carry on feeding if that's what you'd like to do. i did the shouting thing with dd1 and dd2 and they never bit again...
