Baby irritable every morning

Hi!

my baby is 3 weeks old and all of a sudden has stopped pooping in the night, she has a big feed in the morning then will do a huge poop after, however she is so unsettled after, I’m not sure if she is hungry again after she clears herself but she cries all morning and fights sleep, I gave her a second bottle after about 2 hours of crying and that seemed to settle her and she was happy, I’m just wondering if I’m on the right track with this or if it’s something else, it’s only the morning she is like this until her second feed of the day. Should I give her another bottle sooner if she is hungry? I worry of over feeding her.

thanks!

If she’s unsettled and a bottle soothes her I can’t see anything bf wrong in offering her more milk.

I'd also feed her again and see if it settles her. It's perfectly normal for them to stop pooping in the night which is really helpful for settling quicker when they wake for a night feed, lights low and no nappy change will hopefully encourage her to sleep longer and for you to get more sleep🌻

How have you both got on today?

Thank you everyone! I’ve offered her more milk and it’s changed the morning for us! Thank you! I do have another question about changing her at night, if she is only wet shall I still change between feeds or am I okay to go a little longer? Because I still change her wet nappies before every feed? I worry another getting thrush or an infection! Thank you mummas

If she’s just wet, I would leave her. If you’re using disposable nappies they are just so absorbent that any moisture shouldn’t come into contact with her skin for long at all.
