Amount of formula isn’t going up

Was anyone else’s baby the same I’ve just looked back on my tracker and my baby (11 weeks) is having roughly the same amount of formula that she was at 4/5 weeks old. Give or take a few days.

Since she’s been born we’ve been on a feeding routine with was every 3 hours to get her to birth weight now it’s every 4 hours. She doesn’t wake up in the night her feeds are roughly around 6,9:30,1,5,9. And the past week or so she’s not drinking as much maybe around 600-650ml we’ll have the odd day where she’s drank 700ml but that’s it . For example a week from 19th November had 4,480ml but then a week from 1st Jan she’s only had 4,485ml
(this does alter slightly week from week but not by a huge amount)

She has gained 400g in 3 weeks and still following her line she weighs 10ibs 4.
We thought about changing her milk as we’re currently on aptamil but I’m worried incase she stops drinking at all 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don't think there's anything to worry about if she's following her line with weight gain. Does she feed well? Or is it difficult to get her current milk into her? I wouldn't let it stop you changing brands if you want to.

Main check points are, weight gain, wet and dirty nappies and contentment between feeds.

As long as she’s gaining weight as expected and is having plenty of wet nappies then she’s fine.
Stop tracking her feeds. There’s no need for it and you’ll only make yourself anxious.

@Zigazagbox we have to track her feeds otherwise she literally doesn’t let us know she’s hungry she’s been 5 hours before and would probably go longer and overnight before I was setting my alarm for 6 she was going like 12 hours without milk

@Koalaslippers she does feed well in general although the past two days she’s been fidgeting a bit whilst drinking and also screams whilst winding her but then she’s just turning her head like she’s done. I although think she may have a tounge tie as she clicks a lot on the bottle but haven’t brought this up to HV cause I read that it doesn’t really matter for bottle fed babies.

She is generally content in between but also still sleeps a awful lot this morning I went for a walk for 2 hour left her in her pram at home and she was asleep from 10-1:45pm.

And her wet and dirty nappies are regular although her dirty ones are quite loose

Keeping a track of how often she is feeding is understandable . Keeping track of how much she’s had to the ml is obsessive.

Investigate the tongue tie. Down the line it could potentially cause speech issues and it’s much easier to sort on a newborn than a preschooler.

Assuming weight gain and nappies are ok I would feed every 4 hours in the day, unless she wants feeding sooner of course, I just wouldn’t let her go more than 4. Overnight I’d let her sleep. One of mine slept through at 3 months old. It’s unusual but fine. I wouldn’t be documenting the milk that precisely, it’s just not necessary and I wouldn’t be changing her milk. If she starts seeming like she’s getting bored feeding then that’s often an indication they’re ready to go up a teat size. Otherwise it all seems fine.

Agree with getting the Tongue Tie investigated.

There is a list of Tongue Tie Practitioners here.

Clicking isn’t normal and TT can affect weaning, speech and facial development.

I second the going up a teat size if baby seems fussy on the bottle.

The amount of formula per day doesn't really go up dramatically after the first 8 weeks or so (I found anyway). I'd second the every 3-4 hours during the day and letting baby sleep overnight. My first slept all night at 12 weeks, my second woke up for a bottle at 1am (sometimes) but that dropped pretty early too.

I also gently want to encourage you to stop recording the ml of milk drunk now. I know it's hard after being on a feeding plan - we were with DD1 and we recorded her milk until she was nearly 1 - looking back it was pretty batshit, but you can't see it when you're in the haze of a baby who needed to gain weight!

Focus on general demeaner and nappies and try and relax a little.
