I called in, didn't get on though

belgo · 12/06/2008 13:52

it's also in the DMhere

Typical dm journalism though. She 'insists' on feeding her kids?! wtf? She doesn't 'insist' on anything by the sounds of it.

Also, I would question the assertion that most bfing stops at 6 mths. Many of us give up long before then due to lack of support. Media reports with this kind of tone don't help.

LOL at thick Zoe

nicky - if you think this article is bad, you should have seen yesterday's version of it - they've toned it down today!

Jeez-oh, belgo, glad I didn't!
I'll stick to my Gruniad...

Why did they bring up the woman feeding in the doctors surgery though - that was stupid - they were worried about H&S and had no issue with her breastfeeding - if the ceiling had fallen in on her she wouldn't have been covered by their insurance or if there was a fire and the nurse who said she could feed there was inconscious and no one else knew she was there when the fire brigade came she could have died along with her child - there was no issue with this regards to a problem with breastfeeding????

People are so willing to throw their arms up about things like this that I just end up cross with the person complaining and having no sympathy for them!

This programme has really made me think.

I stopped bf ds1 when he was 15 months and I was preg with ds2. I took advantage of the fact that he seemed to go off bf to stop. Thinking about it now it was all about me avoiding possible problems/complications to do with bf 2 children at once and to do with bf a toddler as well as bf while heavily pregnant. I think the fact that I didn't know anyone in rl who had done any of these things was a big factor. It just seemed that the benefits were relatively small and the potential complications were completely unknown - I had no idea if I would cope so it just seemed easier to stop. I think that programs like this that present extended bf as a completely normal straightforward uncontroversial thing to do are great and it has really made me think about when (if?) I will stop bf ds2.
