Making bottles

Doesn’t not leaving water to cool 30 minutes make a huge difference on babies weight gain?
My baby had struggled with weight gain she lost quite a bit a birth then we did a feeding plan then she gained weight but once she dropped her night feed she dropped a centile. The HV told us to try get in a certain amount of formula in a day other wise we would have to wake her up. Anyways we did that and she maintained her centile.
I’m going to weigh her tomorrow (been 3 weeks since last weight) but I weighed her on my scales at home by standing on my self then holding her and she’s only gained 8oz in 3 weeks. (I know that this may not be accurate) but now it’s got me thinking if the way I make bottled if effecting her.

So atm I boil about 1litre but only leave it 15 minutes. Our house is quite cool thought so I worry about it dropping to below 70. Should I leave it 30 mins or will that 15 minutes not make too much of a difference to the nutrients?

Why would it affect the nutrients if you make it up as instructed ie within 30 minutes? The within 30 minutes is to make sure the water is hot enough (above 70 degrees) to kill bacteria in the powder.

@RidingMyBike i read that if you make a bottle up with freshly boiled water it kills the nutrients in the formula this is why on the back of packets it says to leave 30 minutes but no longer

Make sure you’re reading the advice from the correct country, I’ve seen that online from American and Australian sources who have different formula.

You can use boiling water to make up the bottle, the nutrients aren’t affected. The key is ensuring the water is hotter than 70degrees to kill off the bacteria. What you are doing currently is fine. Everyone I know who FF either used a perfect prep (which dispenses water hotter than 70), made up bottle with small amount boiling water then added cold, or used boiling water then used a rapid cool thing. Genuinely never seen anyone wait 30 minutes then make up a bottle, how does that even work when your baby is hungry?
