can anyone help this mumma out I’m a FTM to 4 month old son. He has always been sick when feeding and I’ve tried what feels like everything.. feeding less but more often, keeping upright, gaviscon, omeprazole… it seems recently it has got worse. I took him to ED 2 days ago due to inconsolable screaming… within minutes he was put onto oxygen and lines etc put in to administer antibiotics due to his colour changing so quick… it all was a little crazy and overwhelming… after blood results turns out they said it was probably due to the screaming and it could be too do with severe reflux pain as there was no indicators of any other illness or symptoms… (Scared me so much) they basically said he might wean earlier around 5 months.. we are now home but sickness has got worse and he has moments of happiness along with moments of whinging then the high pitch crying out. I have a feeding review with my GP on Wednesday but I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and any advice out there for me!! I hate to see him like this, I’m also worried for him constantly after the scare the other night!

I will research a lot more about weaning as I have no idea where to begin… do I just start with a little of something but keep all bottles going? Or do I replace a bottle with a little food? 🙈 I do have a health visitor visit tomorrow, but it’s always good to hear other people’s experiences!

Thanks in advance! ❤️

Severe reflux was my baby's sign of CMPA. Are you breastfeeding? If so, cut out ALL dairy and soy (and be extremely careful i.e. no takeaways, no pesto, avoid anything with even small amounts of dairy). If formula feeding, see the GP about different formula. It takes 1-2 weeks but it's worth a try.
