Bottle fed: how many bottles or teats to take to hospital?

This is my second pregnancy, but I’ve forgotten what we did first time round. I’m having a C-section so assume I’ll be in the hospital up to 3 days. If I can’t breastfeed how many bottles and teats should I take to the hospital for three days? Do they have sterilisers on the maternity ward or is there a portable one? I can also send my husband home which will be about a half an hour round-trip. Genuinely forgotten!

Im pretty sure they have tiny bits of colostrum and that’s it for the first few days. Never needed bottles. Like it’s not heavy breastfeeding.

You can get premade bottle with teat on them. If you’re intending on bf but can’t for any reason they will have some for such emergencies.

^ I bought a pack of the premades as a backup in case breastfeeding didn't work out. We didn't end up using them but I figured there would be enough to tide us over & DH could nip to Boots if we needed more.
I didn't want to invest in lots of kit I was hoping not to need, especially as we have so many options nowadays (shops, delivery, clock & collext wtc) to get the stuff if it was needed.
You could always make a list / Amazon wishlist of exactly what to order if it is needed so its a case of just clicking "add to cart" rather than any actual research and decision making if you do need it?

Had 3 sections, I don’t think the c sections had any impact on my milk coming in, breastfeeding went as expected.

agree get some pre made ones as back up but have confidence that breastfeeding will probably be fine :) good luck

Just breastfeed if that's what you say you want. Put baby on the breast immediately and feed feed feed.

My milk took SEVEN days to come in. Baby can feed on colostrum for a long time just fine. Hard work for you but baby will be fine.

Agreed.

Also I had two c sections and so much milk.

@hummous123 I had a c section and I was in for 3 days (2 nights). Nothing wrong but genuinely could not have gone home the morning after. Even 2 nights after, it took me 30 minutes to walk to the car (a 5 minute walk otherwise).

I think this is more to do with them kicking you out rather than if you feel ready to leave

Don't worry about bottles if you're planning on breastfeeding - the hospital has stock if it doesn't go to plan. I didn't take anything. Feed feed feed, lots of skin to skin and suckling to help your milk come in. Sometimes your brain needs a reminder you've had the baby when you have a c section. Have a look up latching positions - the Beside You website is great for tips about getting started. We are based in Kent but website is available to all. I volunteer for the NHS as a breastfeeding supporter at my local childrens centre. Good luck!!
