4 week cluster feeding / growth spurt? EBF

Baby boy is currently 4 weeks old and for the past couple of weeks he has gone through a phase of feeding constantly and not settling for a few hours but this time it seems to be lasting a lot longer. He has been unsettled since 5pm and feeding frantically pulling on and off the breast and it is now 1pm the next day. I am nakered! He won’t go to sleep either so I feel like he’s very overtired. Will this get easier because I’m about to give up 😩

It will get easier Mama. X

Is he getting milk from both breasts? Sometimes if you are coming down either mastitis or similar, your milk can taste funny apparently.

Do you have a sling?
Have a bath together. The water will probably need to be cooler than you'd normally have (and you risk them having a wee or worse in it) but when mine were fussing, feeding them in the bath seemed to calm them. Easy access maybe?

Yes I’m feeding from both x
i don’t have a sling but I’ll order one. I had to cancel my plans today as there is no way I could have taken him out with him being like this 😩

A sling completly turned things around for us. He was content because I was holding him. I was happier because I wasnt stuck sat on the sofa unable to move.

The other thing my son did (I cant remember if he was a bit older though) would be to fall asleep when he was feeding but then as soon as I took him off, he'd wake up and start feeding again. What I found helped was as soon as I took him off was to VERY gently lift his jaw back up so his mouth wasnt left wide open. If he resisted at all, then put him back on the breast but often just really, really gently closing his mouth seemed to stop him waking up obviously, you need to be really gentle and if he resists, dont continue.

Yep normal. It will get better but this sort of comes with the territory when EBF.
