Does anyone know how to contact her? I'm desperate!!

afraid not, but have you tried any of these people (who are free)?

National Breastfeeding Helpline 0844 20 909 20

Association of Breastfeeding Mothers helpline 08444 122 949

Breastfeeding Network Supporterline: 0844 412 4664

La Leche League Telephone Helpline: 0845 120 2918

National Childbirth Trust Breastfeeding line: 0870 444 8708

From Hunker's blog:
Perhaps try getting your partner or a relative or friend to make the first call, in case you need to leave a message, since you may be emotional and it can be hard to key yourself up to ring for support, then get an answerphone message.

These lines are staffed by volunteers, often mothers of small children, so it?s not always possible for them to have a long conversation with you at the time you ring. But rest assured, they are very keen to help you (after all, they?ve spent a long time training to be breastfeeding counsellors) and if you leave a message, somebody will ring you back. You are not putting them out, you are not being a nuisance and they DO want to help you, so, please, if you need help, ring them.

And have you asked on MN?

BouncingTurtle · 06/06/2008 15:23

Smallwhitecat has seen Clare Byam-Cook, she can give you contact details and also tell you how useful she found her.

I won't say much more than that...

coughs discreetly

what's up, pixieshell? Can MN help?

BouncingTurtle · 06/06/2008 15:34

Thanks MrsB
Was going to try and find that thread but had to see to ds!

suzi2 · 06/06/2008 16:17

Get free advice from someone knowledgable and trained. Not from someone who charges to give you advice that she has probably made up and has very little valid reasoning (like being backed up with research or fact).

orangina · 06/06/2008 16:21

I have her number at home, could post it later. (Not sure I rate her advice though, and that is from someone who has called her in for help on 2 occasions in the past...).

pixieshell · 06/06/2008 18:09

I'm having a complete nightmare feeding my 11 week old baby. He's always been a fussy feeder but it's been almost impossible to feed him this week, he screams the second I put him into any feeding position like he knows what is coming!

I've had him checked over at the Drs, no sign of reflux or thrush. I've been to several bf clinics, one of which has an excellent reputation but no one has been able to help me! I've also spoken to the NCT and LLL but they couldn't help either

Baby is not putting on enough weight now and I'm getting into a panic! I really don't want to bottle feed but just can't get him to breast feed.

So CBC was a last ditch attempt to keep going with bf!

pixie, when you say you spoke to NCT and LLL, did anyone actually come out and see you with the baby? Can you ring any of the numbers Mrs Badger has given to see whether anyone can come out to observe you.

If your goal is to continue with bf-ing, a better bet is mn, than CBC. There are many posters like TikTok and hunkermunker, who are very helpful. Hopefully, they will come along soon.

morocco · 06/06/2008 21:18

have you posted yet on mn (apart from on this thread I mean?). it might be worth doing a new thread with a different title to attract passing bf counsellors

kiskideesameanoldmother · 06/06/2008 22:22

The Association of Breastfeeding Mothers has one and possibly 2 counsellors whose patch overlaps where CBC tend to get most of her clients. The ABM's helpline is listed above. Please give them a ring.

pixieshell
would be interested to hear how you are getting on and what you ended up doing? Am having the same problems you describe and was wondering whether you managed to find any support that helped you in the end which you could recommend to me?

sabire · 16/07/2008 22:24

If you don't mind paying and you want to see someone really good - try Alison Blenkinsop, lactation consultant:

www.linkable.biz/page3.htm

Her number is on this page.

She's well known in the bf support community, and unlike CBC, well respected too!

amidaiwish · 16/07/2008 23:10

anyone got a book they would recommend?

lizzytee · 17/07/2008 11:01

Bestfeeding, by Renfrew, Fisher & Arms, available from Amazon, NCT sales, LLL sales

toolly · 17/07/2008 11:06

I know not desperately helpful right now but try going to a chiropracter specialising in babies. It has worked for some.
Really feel for you.

Jacanne · 17/07/2008 11:22

You could try the Breastfeeding 1 forum on I Want My Mum. There are quite a few BFCs on there who might be able to help or know someone in your area. The impression I get is that CBC wouldn't be the best person to go to.

amidaiwish · 17/07/2008 11:42

thanks lizzytee

jonnowilson · 04/04/2009 09:50

Hi folks. Anyone got a contact number for CBC or Smallwhitecat? I'm trying to contact CBC asap. Please and thanks

drivingmisscrazy · 04/04/2009 10:36

pixie sounds like a version of our situation - thread started here. Sympathies it's just crap when they seem so unhappy and you can't work out why

BouncingTurtle · 04/04/2009 18:18

Jonowilson - I replied to your email, I'm sorry I can't help more.

BouncingTurtle · 04/04/2009 18:19

Drivingmisscrazie - this is an old thread! I'm sure Pixie is sorted now - her baby will be nearly 9mo Xmas Smile
