Colief success stories?

7 week old baby girl has really bad gas and digestion issues. She will go through bouts of constipation and gets very upset especially in the evenings and early mornings. She’s formula fed on goat milk which worked quite well for her to begin with. So far we’ve tried massages, bicycle legs, infacol & dentinox (both of which cause her to throw up after a feed), we pace bottle feed and use colic bottles and she had a tongue tie procedure at 2 weeks of age.

I know this is something they grow out of eventually and many just recommend to wait it out but that’s easier said than done when you see your baby suffer and you’re at your wits end. Has anyone had any success with colief? That’s our last glimmer of hope. We don’t know if she has a sensitivity to lactose so I guess it’s just trial and error?

So sorry you’re going through this, had variations on this with all three of my babies. It gets better very quickly as they get older and stronger, but the ‘wait it out’ advice is maddening when you are where you guys are, it’s so hard. Colief helped a small amount. Have you tried the ‘windi’ thing to extract gas as this really helped mine. I know it’s weird but it does work. Other than that was just warm baths, baby massage, bicycle legs, holding them in the ‘tiger in the tree’ hold, keeping them upright in sling after feeds where possible. Good luck

Just tried three days of colief and unfortunately it has made her be sick after each bottle more than ever before and hasn’t helped the gas. So stopping colief and will just have to wait it out.

@Bearlionfalconwe did try the windy on a few occasions but it hasn’t done much for her either. When did your babies get out of this gas and reflux nightmare? I hear 12 weeks is a turning point so I’m keeping my eyes on that!

one of my kids had an allergy to milk / milk protein and for them, I had to just exclusively breastfeed and then he was like a different baby overnight once I stopped formula. That was tough though as I didn’t want to EBG but didn’t have much choice. But with the other two they just had really bad wind/ reflux issues and it got significantly better from your point. I think you will notice it get a little better every week from now and by 12 weeks you will be experiencing a significantly different baby. I think with all of them it was gone by four months. I know it’s a long time when you are living it. Take all the help you can and be kind to yourself during this time and just know it’s not forever! I remember crying just feeling like my baby was unhappy all the time and I wasn’t doing a good job. But that’s not it at all. I think being a very tiny baby just really sucks! Once they were out of this stage all of mine were happy, smiley, settled babies. I do wish someone had wanted me though as it was a bit of a shocking start to parenthood the first time!! Good luck and all the best

@Bearlionfalcon thanks so much! It’s really good to see light at the end of the tunnel. We don’t have any family around to give us a break so it’s just me and my husband and it gets a little tough to play constant relay when we’ve just hit our limit. Luckily she’s giving us the biggest smiles when she’s not in pain so it brightens everything up!

I came across a video that explained at something around 4-6 weeks babies transition to digesting differently and their bodies start to work as they need to and that’s why things slow down. Both DS and DD regulated within a few weeks. It was really hard though seeing them cry and struggle with their digestion, trying to help and nothing did. They did quickly grow out of it.

I wished I had come across that video weeks before because I felt helpless when she looked like she was in pain, constipated, and struggling in general. It does end and gets a lot better.

If you still notice in weeks time there’s the same issue try changing formula.
