Comfort Milk Issues?

Hi All - just looking for a bit of advice because never experienced this before with my other children.

We had our daughter who's now 9 weeks old, and she was bottle fed from birth with Cow & Gate. Everything was going well, piling weight on lovely. Discharged from midwives from day 5 check. We noticed she was screaming constantly for what we thought was more milk. We went up to 180ml on Infant Milk very quickly and we knew we couldn't go up anymore it would be too much on her tummy that much fluid. So we swapped to the Hungrier version of the milk and that seemed to subside her appetite so well. But then at around week 6 she started screaming on an evening always around tea time for ages and so we thought it was possible she had developed colic. We watched and waited for a bit first to see and by week 8 we decided it was probably best to speak to the GP about swapping her to the Comfort version of the Cow & Gate milk which was specifically for Colic and Constipation. He said to go ahead and trial it. Since we have tried it, she has screamed CONSTANTLY throughout the day which isn't like her at all. We had a fantastic routine and she was content if I put her down to make drinks or to do abit of house work. But since swapping to this milk it's constant screaming and shes basically miserable. She also didn't poo for 2/3 days which isn't her normal either. She has been on this now for 3 full days. It probably isn't long enough to see if it's helping her colic issue but the constipation and the screaming as if she has belly ache constantly isn't making me want to keep going with it.

I'm now at odds on what to do because I know swapping formula constantly isn't good for their little tummy, but I also don't think this one is agreeing with her at all. I feel like is it best just stripping right back to basics with the Infant Milk as we only swapped her from that because she was getting hungry fast. But now I'm thinking it's probably best to drop back to basics and start again.

Has anyone else had issues with this?
Thanks

Id go back to first infant milk. Hungry milk isn't really for that age of baby as it's harder to digest.

Agree about not going to Hungry baby milk. It is harder for them to digest, it takes them a lot longer to digest a feed which can lead to them not taking in enough calories in the day.

Swapping formulas isn’t really an issue either. There is nothing wrong with swapping a formula, particularly if your LO isn’t agreeing with the one they’re on.

It does sound though that she may have CMPA. Have a read of this article from Allergy UK and see if the symptoms sound familiar]].

Cow’s Milk Allergy

Cow’s milk allergy is an abnormal response by the body’s immune system in which proteins in a food are recognised as a potential threat.

thanks both! @BunnyRuddington @dementedpixie

I didn’t even hesitate; I stripped right back to basics the night i posted this and went Infant Milk. She woke up brighter, and been absolutely fine today. Had a bowel movement as well which is great.

Funnily enough my son had an allergy to the Protein in Cows Milk! He dropped way below his birth weight though, projectile vomiting every bottle, 10 day check we ended up on the Paeds Ward while they did tests and turned out to be that. He had to have special milk ordered and sent to chemist prescribed by a doctor. Was called Similac! So this had already crossed my mind but because shes piled her weight on I don’t think it is it. Definitely something im mindful of though

Glad she is a bit better. Dont let the weight fool you though. Sone babies with CMPA will feed more because the action of feeding is comforting.

Just something to be aware of if she’s still struggling
