i have a hen do in a few weeks and my baby will be 9 weeks. i will obviously be expressing so my mum can feed my ds. i hope he takes it at the moment he will take about 1oz with a little persuasion. anybody else had same problem?
i'm also worried about finding somewhere private in case i need to express! i can't somehow imagine whipping out my electric pump in the toilets to do it!
any ideas?

I'm sorry I can't help - a hen do at 9wo would ahve been more stress than I could have managed!
How long will you be away from your baby?

i know it does seem more stress than it's worth at the moment! i think i'll decide nearer the time i will be away from midday to evening depending on baby....

Hello

I went to a hen do last week when LO was 10 weeks. Luckily it was in a spa so there were plenty of changing rooms to sneak away and pump. Up until then my LO had an ebm bottle one full feed a week, but also reguarly had a little ebm from a bottle before feeds as he needed to be given gaviscon and wouldn't take it from a spoon or cup.

Would you be comfortable giving him an ebm bottle maybe once or twice a week in the weeks before your hen do so that he gets used to it? As for where to pump, I can't imagine it will be easy to find somewhere private at the races - will you be taking a car? It's not ideal but at least you can put on the radio and try to relax before pumping?

Vicki, it might be worth ringing the racecource and asking if there is somewhere they could facilitate you. I have generally done this in different places and usually staff are very helpful.
BTW I went to a spa as well for a day when ds3 was little and they allowed me to use a treatment room which wasn't in use.

My baby's nearly 9 weeks now - think I'd find being away from baby for so many hours a bit of a struggle if I'm honest!

But if you are up for it then...

A hand pump might be a good option so you don't need power.

Second mm, and reckon it'd be a good idea to get some practice of bottle in before you go, and also let your mum have some time feeding your baby so baby feels comfortable with her.
