Baby chiropractor

Not sure if this is the right heading to be posting under… I’ve also posted quite a lot lately so apologies. I feel so out of my depth with our newborn.
We took him yesterday to have his tongue tie divided. While there, the lactation consultant noticed baby tries to roll already (23 days old) and she mentioned this is probably tension from his c section birth. She recommended we take him to a chiropractor to have the tension rectified. Has anyone else had similar advice or taken similar steps to him improve their baby’s condition? Thank you all xx

Please do not take your newborn to a chiropractor!

If you are worried, see your GP and they may suggest a physio appointment. But there is so much unregulated nonsense preying on new parents (see also cranial osteopathy, which is as best a placebo for the parents and at worst actively harmful to the physiology of a baby) and you should always see a medical professional. Which chiropractors are not.

I’ve not had one try to roll so early but agree that a paediatric physio sounds safer. How did the TT division go?

Dafi24 · 23/08/2025 05:54

My first baby rolled onto her side really early and was a vaginal birth. I wouldn't worry too much but echo the PP advice of taking them to the GP if worried.

tension from his c section birth

What utter bullshit. Please, OP, do not listen to that crap. So many parents struggle to cope with a NB, the demands, the emotions, the exhaustion, the worry and more. This leads to doubt and seeing problems that don't exist. If you have concerns make note of your observations and contact your GP.

Paaseitjes · 23/08/2025 08:55

Mine was trying to roll that early, he's just wriggly! He's trying to crawl now at 4 months. Don't take them to a chiropractor, they can do huge damage especially to a baby. That advice would put me off a consultant. What other nonsense does she believe? If he only turns his head to one side, he might need some specialist baby physio, if your GP recommends it.

Glad to hear it happens with vaginal births as well. I’m feeling so vulnerable to suggestions at the moment, I thought I’d somehow caused this tension by choosing a c section and not pushing him out myself.

Sorry, I’m not “glad” to hear it, I’m relieved that it happens to babies born vaginally and it’s not because of my choice to have a c section ! x

It went well I think… seems to be healing OK, husband checks it daily and baby is definitely moving his tongue now. I hadn’t realised that I’d never ever seen him move it before the division! Still attempting some breastfeeding and pumping the rest. The LC said it can take a week or so for baby to start using his new tongue in the correct way for feeding

I knew what you meant. Don't worry - she's now school age so we are well out of those crazy newborn days. I had my 2nd via c-section and he didn't roll to the side like she did so I think it's just babies rather than delivery method. I remember the worry really well but it is but a moment in time and things change so quickly. Hope your bub starts feeding better after the tongue tie snip.
