How to make formula properly?

I have a beautiful baby boy and I originally wanted to breastfeed, but due to my health it isn't feasible.

I want to make sure I am preparing the formula correctly, but I have some questions.

  1. Can I boil a kettle and use the water from the kettle to put into sterilized bottles and put into the fridge? Then whenever I need to add the formula I can just use the bottled water and feed it to my baby (I'll warm it up beforehand).

  2. How long can formula be out for before it goes bad? I have heard different things from an hour to two hours.

  3. Is a knife the best thing to use to measure the formula correctly? Sorry I don't know how to word the I mean!

  4. Is stirring the best way or shaking? I read a debate where some swear shaking causes air bubbles, but others say that's not true.

Thank you!
:)

OK

First of all, the tin will have the instructions on.

It's really important to know that the point of using very hot water is not to do with water being undrinkable without boiling but rather the infant formula powder can harbour nasties that are destroyed at contact with high temperature water.

Swirling the bottle to dissolve seems a good idea.

The instructions on the tin will guide you on how long the product can be out for.

The infant powder should have a measuring device or spoon in it. Don't pack the spoon, just level with a clean knife, scraping the excess away back into the tin.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

Read the tub for instructions for your formula
The powder needs to be added to hot water to kill bacteria in the powder

Once made up its OK at room temperature for 2 hours or for 1 hour if the bottle has been drunk from

Yes a knife is fine to level the powder in the scoop

I used to shake the bottle but you can stir if you want

I always recommend to anyone that’s bottle feeding to get a perfect prep machine or something similar. They’re an absolute lifesaver. The premixed bottles are also really helpful when you’re out and about.

1- As others have said the powder needs to be put into water 70c or hotter to sterilise the powder itself
2 - one jour once the baby has drunk from it but two hours if it’s not been drunk from
3 - a clean knife works but every tub or tin of formula I’ve bought has had a bit for levelling built in. I tried to find a pic but googles not very helpful lol
4 - shake up and down. Any decent bottles will have an anti colic filter to stop air bubbles getting to baby

Congrats on your new wee one!
