encouraging fuller feeds

Hi all,

My 7 week old is bottle fed and should be on 4 oz per feed, she’s a 90th percentile baby so probably takes more than the required amount for her age too, but during the day she tends to only take 2–3 oz at a time. I feed on demand, which I’m happy to continue with, but I think the snacking is encouraging more frequent waking at night.

She often wakes for tiny 1–2 oz feeds overnight. She’s definitely able to take more, before bedtime she’ll tank up about 6oz (by choice- crying for more after a complete bottle) and do a solid 4–5 hour stretch at the start of the night, so I know she can manage longer if she’s had a decent feed.

Has anyone had a baby get into this snacking pattern? Did anything help encourage more complete feeds in the day, or break the habit of little-and-often overnight? Not looking to push her too hard as she’s only 7 weeks, just wondering if there’s a gentle way to encourage fuller feeds so she can go longer stretches.

Thanks!

Probably worth mentioning I have tried resettling her with a dummy a few times but she really wants that 1oz in the early hours so it only works for about 10 minutes! She also doesn’t really like dummies generally.
