I have noticed some mums at my local baby cafe getting... er... interesting advice from various quarters. So I'm writing my own viewpoint on tinterweb so that I can just give them the link and then they can do their own research using the links to kellymom etc.

But obv I'm a first time mum and in no way a professional so would appreciate someone checking it over for howlers or dangerous statements, and/or making constructive comments.

It's at tovaglia.livejournal.com/62971.html

Thanks!

Hi sally, how you doin'

BTW couldn't click on your link x

MrsJamin · 28/05/2008 09:26

That's great, I wish I had known some of that stuff before breastfeeding. I would definitely send the link to new mums who were struggling with BFing. Well done (if that doesn't sound too patronising!)!

sallyforth · 28/05/2008 09:37

Oh, sorry! This is the link.

Hi leesmum... am fine, how are you?

Sallyforth, that's brilliant, I've bookmarked it to pass on to my friend, when she has her baby.

leesmum · 28/05/2008 12:51

Oh Sally everything you've written is spot on! Have you thought about linking this to some of the ante natal threads, especially the one's due soon. I know i would have found every bit of advise on here helpful, i was constantly scouring the BF threads for any tips/help i could get. Hunkers blog is also brill and well worth a read. xx

ChairmumMiaow · 28/05/2008 14:01

That's really good and nicely written. Do you mind me linking to it from my blog?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 28/05/2008 16:36

Sally what a brilliant read- you wrote that so well- and definately from the heart- i chose not to bf both of my DC's as i never felt i had enough support etc but reading your article makes me rethink my decisions- (i do not regret the though just think differently)

It was so informative and will be of great benefit to all new mothers,

Well done xxxx

MrsJamin · 28/05/2008 17:45

I've just sent the link to 5 new mums I know, I think encouraging someone else to breastfeed their child is one of the most important ways you can support a friend!

sallyforth · 28/05/2008 18:28

Hello, thanks for all your comments so far - I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. I really didn't want it to come across as dull or holier-than-thou!

Yes do feel free to link to it from blogs etc if you like. If I could help even one new mum feel better about bf, I would be so pleased!

leesmum - that's a good idea, I'll drop by some of the ante natal threads now.

Brilliantly written - you really strike the right balance between being helpful and being friendly - I wish someone had given this to me when I was having problems with DS!

Will definitely be passing this on to any/everyone I know who may find it useful.

leesmum · 29/05/2008 09:47
