Hello,

I made a previous post about CMPA as my baby has always been sicky and rashy. I’ve been dairy free for over a week now and seen absolutely no improvement in him.

I changed my washing detergent and his rash has gone his skin is just quite dry now but improving every day with moisturiser.

He is still regularly being sick. The sick is inconsistent, sometimes he will sick up what looks like an entire feed, sometimes it will just be a small amount and other times he is not sick at all. He is not in pain when being sick and quite regularly laughs/smiles while being sick!! 🤣

I have noticed that during night feeds, between around 9pm-10am, he is never sick or if he is, it’s a tiny amount. I thought it could be due to me doing the side lay position for feeds during the night, however I have tested this during the day and he is still sick. For context, he is exclusively breast fed.

Has anyone else experienced this?? My gut tells me he is just a sicky baby and I just need to deal with it until he grows out of it, but found it strange that he’s not being sick during his night feeds so wanted to see if anyone else has experienced the same.

Some babies are just happy vomiters. I think if he’s sleeping, not distressed by it and for loosing his centiles, then it’s fine inconvenient but not really anything to worry about.

You could always talk to your local BFing Support Group or your HV Smile

This sounds so familiar! I have twins and one of mine was exactly like this — happy, smiley, clearly not in pain, but could sick up an entire feed and just look at me like nothing happened 😂 My paed called it "happy spitter" and honestly that label helped me relax about it so much.

With my two I noticed the same when I was breastfeeding - upright burping, paced feeding during the day, and keeping them elevated for 20 mins after feeds helped a little, but honestly some babies are just sicky and there's no fixing it. If he's gaining weight well, has plenty of wet nappies, and is happy - your gut is probably right. It really does just resolve on its own, after a few months when they start sitting up more independently.

You're doing great.
