Saw duty DR yesterday with ds2 (12 weeks) as he's been poorly for a couple of days. Dr said it's nothing serious just keep feeding him as much as he wants.

Spoke to NHS direct this morning about advice on how much calpol he can have and she said to give cool boiled water.

So which is it? I'm hoping it's not the latter as I have no bottles or steriliser.

It isn't necessarily wrong but a BF baby doesn't need anything else.

I agree luvaduck, Tink was given Calpol at 5 weeks (she is a 31 weeker) and the dose had to be adjusted. The out of hours doctor nearly OD'ed her though as he didn't adjust for her weight, she wouldn't have been 5lbs I think and he gave her a full dose. Fortunately(?) she ended up in hospital before I could give her more than one dose and the NN-MW worked out the correct dose for me.

ConnorTraceptive your arms are the best place for him if he doesn't feel well, one of the appeals of a sling for me.

iwillNOTletthisbeatme, not wrong, just unnecessary.

tinkmum am just about to write something on your previous thread.... (wheezing)

awful about OOh doc - hope you complained. tis basic stuff.

TinkerbellesMum · 28/05/2008 11:17

I started writing the complaint but we've both been ill on and off between us since and it's been difficult to get to finish it off. I don't want to let it go because, as you say, it is basic and he shouldn't be talking to people like that.

My DD (6weeks) had an unsettled night and it seemed that she was straining as if was constipated, wriggling, waving arms and legs and trying to push all at the same time. I felt so helpless watching this as cant help her.

Eventually she did manage to go and it looked as normal (am bfing)but just as i was just about to put new nappy on she started to pass alot of poo coloured water.

She seemed happy enough and was even smiling at me but still through the rest of the night she was restless and seemed as if still straining. Passed again in the earlyb hours and it looked normal again.

Today she seems to want to be constantly on the breast, i am happy about this as am a bit worried about dehydration.

Dont know really what has happened and what has caused this. Any ideas anyone and what do i do if happens again tonite?

Am not drinking milk today incase this helps towards diarrea.
