Breastfeeding large newborn

I had my baby 5 weeks ago weighing in at nearly 10lb. I have been EBF since birth but it’s been a journey! LO is very gassy and I need to burp frequently during feeds. He also sometimes sucks a bit and then comes off crying? Not sure if it’s my let down but I can never see anything when he comes off in terms of milk.
I have tried different holds but wondered if any experienced mamas of large newborns had any tips/tricks regarding positioning. I find holding him in certain positions hard because of his size (weight and length) does it get easier once they have some head control?
I’ve got a BF cushion but he kind of sinks into it which is harder to feed from. Are these issues normal and common?
I want to BF but it’s a bit of a nightmare at the moment and taking lots of time & energy.
I also have a toddler in the mix 🫣
thanks in advance :)

if you can logistically manage side feeding on the bed or laying back with him across you to feed this tends to help with supporting their weight and with managing the power of your let down. There are good YouTube tutorials on laid back feeding specifically as it can be difficult to work out to begin with. Side feeding has always been my favourite

Rugby ball feeding position was helpful for me with my big baby.

Stuff them under your arm , on pillows to raise to the right height. Support head with nearest hand (left boob, left hand)
