8month baby - not interested in solids

my 8month baby girl doesn’t seem interested in solids, she’s never been keen on milk either but I manage to get that in her. She’s on the smaller side but is growing along her percentile curve. Generally she’s a really good baby, always happy and sleeps through the night. I’m just worried as she really isn’t interested in eating and I was hoping through starting solids I would be able to fatten her up a bit. She has a few spoons of yogurt with fruit, she has had few sips of smoothies too, but other than that she’s not shown much interest.

i have tried both purées and BLW.

any advice? I know she’s still little but getting really worried here - wondering if anyone else experienced this with their little ones?

Just keep trying. Different food at different times of the day, no pressure.

She's not going to be drinking formula at 18, she will eat eventually.

Does she try and grab your food when you're eating?

Yep just keep trying different tastes and textures - dont be tempted to make them all sweet.

(I'm not really interested in solids in this heat!)

Model the behaviour and try to give every meal time. My LO was similar and now when we go to a restaurant he eats like a little adult (who gets their food all over themselves and the floor).

Routine really helped with mine. Same time, same high chair, bib, bowl, etc. So when he sat down, after a week or so, he knew it was food time.

Does she try to eat from your plate at all?

My LO was very late - didn’t take to foods until around 10 months x
I just kept offering everyday and let baby do her thing. no pressure just let your LO lead. They will eat when they are ready :)

Keep trying. Different foods, different times of day etc. She was better with large foods so half an apple rather than apple slices for example

My daughter was 13 months before she engaged with weaning. The first meal she ate was mine that she stole when sat in my knee

We had had issues with breastfeeding too but has ok weight gain until weaning started and her activity increased and her milk intake alone wasn't enough for her to gain weight so she barely gained anything between 7 and 13 months. She needed food and milk to restart gaining weight. It was so stressful at the time but now and amusing story!
