My ds has started to sleep more regularly at nightime now (6mths) and goes down at 7.30/8pm after having both boobs. I love the exrta sleep but keep waking up before 1pm as very wet even with two breast pads. How long before my body realises this is a regular pattern and changes milk supply - it's been five nights so far. Last night was by far the worst as he did not wake until 4.30am (great if I could sleep and not keeping waking up wet). I don't really want to express and hope body will naturally adjust, but how long?

Also any help on how to cope wettness?

Many thanks

Oh, just this happened to me!
It was dire, I had to wear a nighttime bra with a muslin AND a towel stuffed down it otherwise I awoke sopping with milk in a wet bed (I had a matrress protector thank god).
I used to say to DH "what an attractive sensual woman I am" as a joke when going to bed with this lot on.

I used to get up at 4am and express to get rid of it...then reduced the amount I expressed each night to discourage the milk production. It took about 3 weeks for my boobs to catch up with my DD but after that no problem at all.

Thanks Miggsie I tired the muslin yesterday and got a bit longer sleep before waking up wet - guess from your comments I still have two more weeks of this pleasant experience

DonsDons they look really small do they really work as quiet expensive at £15?

I reckon they are about 10cm in diameter, and are definately big enough to cover the critical area! I think they only have to cover your actual nipple to be effective anyway as they work by sort of squashing your nipple in (but not in a tight or uncomfortable way)

From what I read, one pair will last about 2 months with proper care (ie you have to wash them every day - using washing up liquid to maintain the stickiness). I got mine off e-bay so were a bit cheaper. Have been using one pair for nearly 5 weeks and they seem to be fine.

I also keep them on at night in bed and only wear a loose vest (no bra) and they don't fall off and more importantly stop me leaking all over the bed which I was doing before.

There is an Australian product called (rather oddly) Booby Bibs which are vest tops with a really absorbent front bit (www.boobybibs.com.au).Probably not much help for you as it would take a while to get to you if you did want to try one. They are quite expensive and not the most flattering garment. I think they were designed by and are made by a mum who had bad leakage problems. Somehow the magic material absorbs mostly all the leakage and you don't feel reallu uncomfortable. I got two initially only for making night-feeding easier as they have a zip for easy access rather than faffing with a bra at night, but found it worked really well when I had massive leakage.
