Yet more BF discrimination!

I know there have been recent threads about people encountering negative attitudes to breastfeeding in public, but I have just heard a story that has made me sooooo .

A friend of a friend was bf her baby in a restaurant in Lisburn, NI. The chef came out of the kitchen and loudly told the mum she had to leave the restaurant! She was mortified and humiliated. .

I have begged my friend to find out the name of the restaurant so it can be named.

Is there some sort of petition to make harassing bf mothers illegal, as it is in Scotland?

Legally I think there is something that classes his behaviour as harassment or discrimination or something, I've seen it mentioned on a thread before, I'll see if I can find it.

Something to do with sex discrimination apparently.

It's equalities legislation, Squalor - the bf mother cannot be denied services or employment on the grounds of her bf (like disability or age or race or religion or sexual orientation). Not sure if it is in place, or whether it would pertain in NI.

Blue, this would make a good story for the local press.

If you read this it says the coffee shop broke sex discrimination laws by turning someone away that was breastfeeding.

The changes to the law are explained here

In the Republic this would be classified as harrassment and is illegal but not sure what the law is in the North. I would encourage the friend of friend to take it to the local paper and local MP and Assembly member. . Completely unacceptable!
